Scott was born and raised in Woodside and has strong ties to the mid Peninsula. He attended Chico State University, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Journalism. Scott also played soccer for the Chico State Men's Soccer Team as well as 6 years of semi-pro soccer. As a child Scott attended middle school at Corte Madera in Portola Valley and then Woodside High School.
Scott and his wife Shelly have lived in Menlo Park, Belmont, Redwood City, finally moving back to Woodside with their 2 children, Taylor and Kyle, in 2005.
