Sereno Group Santa Cruz Announces Casa As The 1% For Good Recipient

SANTA CRUZ—October 20, 2012. Sereno Group’s Santa Cruz office announced CASA Santa Cruz as the recipient for their 1% for Good philanthropy campaign. During the months of September, October, and November the Sereno Group Santa Cruz team will be pledging 1% of their gross commissions to CASA in support of their programs.

The Sereno Group 1% for Good philanthropy program was developed and launched earlier this year by Sereno Group Santa Cruz. The company took inspiration from Patagonia’s 1% for the Planet program and sees 1% for Good as an opportunity to support charitable organizations that directly impact the local communities.

“The work done by CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, is critical to the children in foster care as well as the community at large,” said Marilyn Koll, Realtor at Sereno Group Santa Cruz, “The influence of one strong and caring adult makes a lifelong impact on these children. Our group recognized the effectiveness of this bond and wanted to encourage and support this effort.”

As many as 600 children each year live in the Santa Cruz County foster care system. CASA screens, trains, and supervises adult volunteers who serve as mentors and advocates for a child within the foster care system. CASA of Santa Cruz has trained and provided over 1,000 advocates since 1992 and has positively influenced more than 1,5000 Santa Cruz foster children’s lives.

Earlier this year, Sereno Group announced the launch of their new 1% for Good charitable philanthropy program. With 1% for Good, Sereno Group has pledged to give 1% of their gross commissions to a charitable or community minded organization committed to making a positive difference in the community.
